Allan Park Ltd want to develop a piece of land to the rear of Allan Park Crescent to form a nursing home and townhouses. That planning approval is in place but the developer wanted to knock down one of a row of bungalows to form an access roadway and that application has now been rejected on appeal to the Reporter.
There is a taster day this afternoon for anyone thinking they might like to sign up for a free 12 week course learning about canal boat skills, the history of the canal and its environment and introductory sessions in approaches to improving health and wellbeing. Everything from diet to qi gong, foraging to environmental art is included.
Anna Canning is the Volunteer Development Worker with the project and told us: “The project is open to all, but may be especially useful for those facing social isolation or in recovery.
“The programme of activities also includes one-to-one work with participants to enable them follow up interests and skills beyond the 12-week project and assist them to engage with other initiatives and opportunities for learning, skills development and volunteering in their local community.”
