Kevin.Thomson.2

Kevin Thomson is excited to be back at Easter Road for the third spell in his career and he sees similarities to the squad that went on to win the CIS League Cup in 2007.

Thomson moved to Rangers before that cup final and had a successful period at Ibrox, winning two league titles, two League Cups and a Scottish cup as well as appearing in the final of the UEFA Cup.

When the news of his return was announced, most fans believed that his main role would be as a coach however he has made it plain to the Head Coach that he is available to pay if and when required.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Thomson said: “I’m excited and it’s lovely to be back, I’m humbled to be given the opportunity to come back and hopefully help the team.

“The opportunity to come in and do a bit of coaching as well was something that I certainly couldn’t pass up.

“I did say to the manger that I did wanted to play and be part of his team. From the outside looking in its back to the good old times at the Hibees and that’s something that excited me to try and be a part of.

“The coaching is not exactly on a back burner but it was something that we could combine. I’m midway through my ‘A’ licence so hopefully I will have all that tied up by the summer.

“The squad reminds me of the Tony Mowbray era. It has a few young players with a lot of potential, a young manager than wants to do it his way. I’m excited to be back and hopefully I can help some of the younger players and I’ll be there if the manager calls me.

“The strength in depth of the squad here is fantastic. The squad is pretty much as good as any Premier League squad. coming from Dundee I don’t think just because they are in the Championship they have a lesser squad,

“I think they could easily compete in the Premier League.2”
