John McGinn’s red card from Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Falkirk has been downgraded to a yellow meaning that he has avoided a two-game ban and is free to face Queen of the South and Rangers.

The 21-year-old midfielder was sent off following a challenge with Mark Kerr after losing control of the ball inside the penalty area.

McGinn appeared at Hampden this morning to give a personal account of the incident, and the SFA disciplinary panel agreed with the Edinburgh Reporter and the majority of fans inside Easter Road by deciding that the tackle did not merit a red card.

The Scotland Under-21 captain has become a fans’ favourite  since his summer move from St Mirren, scoring twice in 19 appearances and producing a number of excellent performances.
