Come along to the Gallery at the Western General Hospital between 12 and 2pm on Friday 23rd October, to see a new display of work created by two of our visually impaired clients.
Castaway Heads is a collection of explorations of the head, created from memories and impressions by the artists, Fiona Powell and Alan McIntyre. Both Fiona and Alan have Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a degenerative condition which severely impairs the vision. Together they have formed the group VIEW – Visually Impaired Experimental Works – a group that develop accessible ways to create work as visually impaired artists and explore modes of presentation which offer a sensory experience to a wide audience, suggesting alternative perspectives on the world around us.
The Gallery is located on the ground floor link corridor between the Alexander Donald and Anne Ferguson Buildings. Enter the hospital grounds via Porterfield Road, off Crewe Road South. Follow the road to the Alexander Donald Building entrance and turn right past the Pharmacy Department into the Gallery.
The exhibition will run from 23 October -2015 – 16 January 2016.
