Two people have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Edinburgh recovered quantities of cannabis and heroin.

Officers carried out a search of a 26-year-old man and later a 45 year old woman in Lochview Court, in the Dumbiedykes area yesterday (Thursday) before conducting a further search of an address in Tolbooth Wynd later the same day.

As a result, 38 grams of heroin was seized along with personal quantities of cannabis.

The recovered heroin is valued at £3, 800.

The man and woman are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Detective Sergeant Gary Reid said: “As a result of some excellent proactive police work, the personal search of a male which resulted in almost £4,000 worth of heroin along with cannabis being recovered from a property in Lochview Court.

“These drugs will now be destroyed so that they cannot cause untold harm to our communities.

“Information from the public is vital for police to actively target those involved in drug crime and anyone with information relating to offences of this nature in their local area should contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
