Some of the council’s Port Seton Resource Centre service-users are shown here proudly displaying the cheque the centre donated to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh Renal Unit.
Acting Centre Manager Bruce Smith said: “The reason we wanted to do this for the Renal Unit is because one of our service-users had spent several months in there and eventually, unfortunately, that’s where she passed away.
“Service-users on the Members’ Council wanted to have a party to commemorate the passing of this very popular person.
“We arranged a party in the Cockenzie & Port Seton Bowling Club in November to which all service-users, friends, family and staff were invited. Thanks to the generosity of the Bowling Club, Roots & Fruits and Eddie Raven, who all offered their services free, coupled with a successful raffle and a £100 contribution from “Me Time,” a local relaxation class, we managed to reach a total of £620.00, in aid and recognition of the care provided by the Infirmary’s Renal Unit.
“We’d really like to thank everyone who helped us with this.”
