Brazil may have been knocked out by Germany in spectacular style but their arch-rivals Argentina are ready to take up the challenge in the World Cup Final. Get a taste of the best bars in Edinburgh to watch the final of the greatest show on earth (according to all you football fans out there).
Edinburgh has its fair share of excellent bars but where is the best place this weekend to catch the match? Here are a few of our suggestions:
With the motto ‘travel the world one beer at a time’ this bar is a sure fire winner. This new sports bar opened a couple of months ago on Picardy place in the basement of Steak Restaurant. They have plenty of widescreen TVs, booths you can reserve, a free pool table, terrace and beer cocktails! Drinks please – Quilmes or an Erdinger Weisse depending where your money lies.
They have a fabulous sun terrace for those non-footballers in your group (that will be me!) and a pull down screen and projector for the aficionados. With a 2.5 metre screen, surround sound and the promise of ice cold beer, and fantastic food this is a great option for any group. They have a rather lovely Argentinian Malbec or you might prefer one of the many great craft bees including the German Furstenburg.
The infamous Three Sisters in the Grassmarket always has sport on and lots of room to find a seat. You can now pre-book space in the World Cup beer hall and enjoy a 2 pint Stein and a Man Plank – which is a huge sharer board with nachos, burgers, wings and more!
Because this is an all American themed sports bar it’s a given that this is darn good place to watch the football with your mates while having a pint and something to eat. Its definitely a lads lad type place with girls usually outnumbered but don’t let that put you off. They have recently started serving alcoholic milkshakes for a different twist to your pre match drinks choice.
With multiple screens inside and a famous beer garden outside featuring a big screen this bar may be full of students but it’s a great place to watch on a nice evening. They have a good selection on draft and changing deals.
Third place play off – Saturday 12th at 9pm – Brazil vs Holland
Final – Sunday 13th at 8pm – Germany vs Argentina
With so many places to chose from in the city, where will you be watching the match?
