Every year the Melrose Sevens puts on a great show for supporters and players and it’s a great day for all. The idea of rugby sevens was born of Melrose legends Ned Haig and David Sanderson, employees at the local butcher shop, who created a shorter rugby game with seven men per side and action served in fast-paced 15 minute slots. The sport is now enjoyed by passionate fans worldwide but still reigns supreme in Melrose, where the whole town buzzes with excitement in the run up to the annual rugby tournament.

Special attractions and entertainment can be found on and off the pitch for the duration of the tournament ensuring the Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens is the ideal day out for families as well as sporting fans.
