A special screening of the latest Bond movie Skyfall takes place at Cineworld in Edinburgh on Thursday, 10 April at 6.30pm.

Organised by conservation charity, the National Trust for Scotland, the event will raise funds to help conserve one of the stars of the movie, Glencoe, where its dramatic conclusion plays out.

Glencoe is owned and cared for by the charity and is one of the most naturally and culturally significant places in Scotland – its care comes with a hefty price tag attached.

The conservation charity has reported that visitor numbers at Glencoe were up 42 per cent in 2013, compared to the previous year.

As well as maintaining footpaths for walkers visiting the area to prevent erosion, the Trust carries out a huge range of conservation projects which conserve the area’s important biodiversity and ensure that its chilling cultural history is shared with visitors.

The special screening will begin with an introduction from Scott McCombie, the Property Manager responsible for taking care of this huge area.

Scott said: “We hope that this event will help us raise vital funds to contribute to our conservation work at Glencoe. With ever increasing numbers of visitors to Glencoe from throughout Scotland and beyond, we think in part down to its starring role in Skyfall, there’s more work to do than ever to help conserve this stunning landscape for the benefit of this and future generations.

“As Edinburgh has such an active community of walkers, climbers and outdoorsman, we hope folk will come along to hear about our important ongoing work to protect this special place and to support us in those efforts.”

Tickets for the event cost £15 per person, including a soft drink, popcorn and entry into a prize draw to win a Landrover Safari for two at Glencoe.

To book online, visit http://www.nts.org.uk/Site/Fundraising-Events/Support-Glencoe/ or contact the Community Fundraising Team on 0844 493 2696 for further information and to reserve your tickets.

This event would not have been possible without the generous support of Cineworld.
