Hibernian Community Foundation have kindly donated football strips to an Edinburgh deaf  children’s football team  to allow them to take part on a national tournament which will take place on Sunday  at Goals Soccer Centre – Liverpool.

The 7th National Deaf Youth Football Tournament (Northern Area)  is open to all deaf football teams, all deaf youth groups and any mixed deaf and hearing teams* who want to play!

The emphasis is on fun, raising awareness of deaf football and celebrating the Deaf Friendly FC project. The winning teams will be crowned the National Deaf Youth Football Champions and will take the coveted NDYFT Trophy home with them!

The Edinburgh youngsters are all part of the National Deaf Children’s Society  and will be the first Scottish group represented in this 5-a-side competition for under 12′s.

The group received a supply of new ‘old-stock’ kit for their matches against teams from Leeds, Cardiff, Derby, Bolton and Morecombe.

The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) is the leading charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people.

The Hibernian Community Foundation works in close partnership with Hibernian Football Club to harness the power and passion of football to make a real difference in people’s lives and within local communities. It adds value and creates positive impact in the local community through our focus on health, fitness and wellbeing; community football and learning and education.

Volunteer Glenn Milne said: “We were delighted to support the youngsters who will be taking part in the National Deaf Youth Football Tournament in Liverpool later this month. Good luck lads!”

Seen collecting the strips from Glenn  is Coach Simon Spence, who contacted the Foundation after they were offered complimentary match tickets for one of Hibs ’remaining home fixtures.
