A 19-year-old man has charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after Police Scotland seized over 20 ‘Mortal Combat’ tablets found within an Edinburgh nightclub.

Staff at the Liquid Rooms in Victoria Street found the male in possession of a bag containing 23 of the red pills on Sunday 9th February and contacted police.

He was subsequently arrested and was scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday).

Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton said: “This is the first arrest for possession of Mortal Combat within the Capital and we want to send a clear message that police are working with staff at licensed premises to ensure additional vigilance for this drug.

“The public should be mindful of the health risks associated with consumption of Mortal Combat and similar substances. Anyone found to be in possession of it should expect to be dealt with by police.”
