As people’s resolutions begin to fall by the wayside, a young professional is helping Edinburgh’s residents looking to explore their city and meet like-minded people in 2014 stay on track with their New Year goals with a range of exciting events throughout the capital.

Your New Crew, the brainchild of young Scottish entrepreneur Gemma Pirnie, is offering the capital’s residents a taste of the city at the start up’s first social event of 2014. Set to be a gastronomic delight, the membership service, which aims to introduce young professionals new to the city to some of the most loved haunts, has teamed up with Café St Honoré and independent brewer Innis & Gunn.

Taking place on Thursday 6 February 2014 guests can expect a special night of beer and food matching with live demonstrations from top Scottish chef Neil Forbes, who will be creating a range of spectacular dishes designed specifically to compliment the brewer’s unexpected flavour combinations. Innis & Gunn’s quality and sensory manager will also be on hand to lead guests through the tasting experience, showing them what to look for when sampling ale.

Launched specifically to help introduce Edinburgh’s best kept secrets to those new to Scotland’s capital, Your New Crew hopes to remove the hassle and isolation often associated with relocating and making a new circle of friends. The service is also open to the city’s existing young professionals and graduates who perhaps want to get out and explore new places and meet new people in 2014.

In an increasingly digital world, founder Gemma hopes to encourage members to step away from the isolating virtual environment by getting out and engaging in their city creating opportunities for them to experience Edinburgh.

Your New Crew founder, Gemma Pirnie commented:
“We are thrilled to be starting 2014’s event calendar at Café St Honoré with Innis & Gunn and look forward to toasting some new faces with a glass of ale.

“Relocating and getting to know a new city can be overwhelming, it can take years before you finally feel at home. Your New Crew takes the stress and uncertainty out of this, leaving our members free to enjoy themselves at our unique events. We always look to recreate the same support and togetherness that is often experienced throughout university, whilst acknowledging the fact that our members are now in the next stage of their lives.

“With an ever increasing digital social presence, it is easy for people to get caught up with their online lives and forget that they have a whole city to explore. Through our varied events calendar we look to combine one off event experiences with great and quirky venues that are slightly off the beaten track. It is a great way to help people who have perhaps tasked themselves with getting out and about in the city this year.”

Commenting on the event, Neil Forbes, chef director of Cafe St Honoré, added:
“We’re pleased to be able to support Your New Crew’s first event of the year, the service provides a fantastic opportunity for people new to the city as well as those maybe those not so new to get to know it that little bit better, with a relaxed informal event that will offer an unforgettable experience.

”I’m a big fan of Innis & Gunn beers and we’ve worked to create a special menu that compliments the unique flavourings perfectly. This tasting session offers attendees an insight into the less well known side of Edinburgh.”

The event takes place on Thursday 6 February 2014 from 6.30pm-8.30pm and tickets cost £10 per person. Numbers for the event at Cafe St Honoré are limited so please book to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made at http://www.yournewcrew.com/user/register
