A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a serious sexual assault in the Canongate area of Edinburgh on New Year’s Day.
He is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday).
The incident happened between midnight and 2.30am in the Canongate area.
Since then officers have provided a high-visibility presence within the Canongate to engage with the public and offer reassurance to the public.
“Anyone with information relevant to this investigation should contact Police Scotland on 101 or make a report via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
