The community shop at Muirhouse will reopen today. They announce on their Facebook page:-

The community shop re-open on Monday at 10am, selling the great range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as many cupboard items.

We are still collecting used stamps for Epilepsy Scotland

and

Use Christmas Cards and birthday cards for Oaklands school

Students at Edinburgh College go back to their studies today. Edinburgh school teachers are also back at work, but pupils only return to their studies tomorrow.  Details of the spring term dates are:-

  • Monday 6 January 2014 – Staff resume (Five In-Service days for all schools)
  • Tuesday 7 January 2014 – Pupils resume
  • Friday 14 February 2014 – Mid-term, All break
  • Monday 24 February 2014 – All resume
  • Friday 4 April 2014 – Term ends

Some courses in the Adult Education Programme begin this month.More details here. Venues across the city offer day, evening and weekend courses, with a huge variety of subjects on offer, including art, computing, languages, fitness, genealogy, crafts, yoga, belly dancing, wine appreciation, gardening and stress management.

Castlebrae Community High School is using its Twitter account to keep locals up to date with what they have on offer.

Community Councils are a good way to keep abreast of what is going on in your neighbourhood.
