Edinburgh-based networking group WeDO has named the finalists for its annual awards ceremony later this month. The awards, in their fifth year, will be presented at a ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Hotel on Festival Square and will celebrate finalists in four categories – Young Entrepreneur, Most Innovative Business, High Growth Company and New Start Business. The finalists include motor company Pike & Bambridge, The Big Cheese Making Kit, online agencies fatBuzz and Pretty Klicks and label technology company UWI Technology.
With around 150 members, membership of WeDO Scotland is by invitation only. The group works with small start-ups as well as larger and more established businesses. Speaking about the awards, WeDO founder Belinda Roberts said: “We would like to congratulate all the finalists for reaching this stage. The businesses have fantastic merits and the judging panel were very impressed by the entries we received.
“The WeDO awards recognise the impressive pool of talent we have among the membership and we are delighted to see these organisations shine.”
Pete Higgins (pictured above) is the founder of UWI Technology, shortlisted for Most Innovative business. He said: “Not only is it is an honour to be considered for this award when there are so many innovative companies in Scotland, but is tremendous recognition for all the hard work that has gone in over the years to make the UWI label the truly innovative product that it is today. The reassuringly simple label continues to make waves in several sectors from food and drink to aerospace and life sciences as it reduces unnecessary wastage, saving money for all concerned – a real win-win story.”
Pike & Bambridge is shortlisted for New Start Business of the Year. Co-founder Piers Bambridge said:-“Pike & Bambridge is delighted to be named as finalists in the WeDO awards. For a young company like ours, WeDO plays a valuable part in our business growth activity, and it has proven to be an essential tool in helping to develop our network. We’re very much looking forward to the awards, and continuing our association with WeDO for many years to come.”
The judging panel for the awards included Graham Langley, founder of GL Capital, Russell Dalgleish, Founder of Exolta Capital Partners in London and Jack Ogston, Non-Executive Director of Davidson Chalmers LLP and the Scottish Building Society. The ceremony will take place on 22nd November.
