This week’s photo comes from Mark A. Brown. Mark is a Client Services Manager at Bibby Financial Services during the day, and devotes his free time to sport and community throughout the city. When he’s not playing for Woodcutters CC & Holy Cross CC, Mark is part of the social media team at Spartans FC, and is also a former player and president of Broughton Rugby Club.
”I’m an enthusiastic ’point and press’ amateur snapper and enjoy taking my camera on my travels,” said Mark. ”I guess my early morning snap from the Western Isles that was selected to be the front cover shot for the 2012 Herald calendar inspired me to become more interested in learning more about how my camera works.”
Mark was one of the first to attend the club, making sure that there were definitely no leftover cakes!
”The informal nature of the Stockbridge Photography Club group and the fact all club members can share their experiences and learn from each other has really helped me begin to have a better understanding on how to take sharper and smarter pics, including this Thistle whilst on a wander round Arthur’s Seat during the recent warm spell.”
The Stockbridge Photography Club is a non-profit photography club that aims to operate in a different way from the traditional photography club mold. We’re currently without a home after the sad closure of Kiss The Fish studios, however, we still have informal monthly meetings where we discuss our photos over a cup of coffee and learn about the month’s theme- albeit slightly more nomadic than usual!
Outside of this, we arrange photowalks and trips to various locations and landmarks in and around Edinburgh, providing our members with something interesting to photograph, whilst always having someone on hand to answer any questions.
More info about the club is on their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter @stockbridgepics
