Lothian and Borders Police is appealing for information to trace a 77-year-old woman who is missing from her home at Beech Road, Boghall, Bathgate.
Irene McCawley was last seen by her husband around 9am on Wednesday 17th October. She was reported missing at 6.50pm after she failed to return home.

She is described as being white, about 5ft 5ins tall, of stocky build, and with white short hair. At the time she went missing she was wearing a plum coloured three-quarter length coat and may also be carrying a black handbag.

Officers are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare, and a number of local search teams are out in the area making enquiries.

Chief Inspector Stephen Elliot said: “Mrs McCawley’s disappearance is completely out of character and we are particularly worried about her welfare, especially in this inclement weather.

“Mrs McCawley is a well-known member of the local community and we are appealing to anyone who might have seen her since 9am this morning to get in touch with us immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises her description and believes they have seen her today should get in touch as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.
