SCHOOLS HELP TESCO CELEBRATE 21 YEARS OF GIVING

Local Pentlands MSP Gordon Macdonald took part in the presentation of IT and sports equipment to local schools in his constituency earlier this week. The event took place at the Tesco store in Colinton and present were teachers and pupils from Bonaly, Clovenstone and Oxgangs Primary.

Gordon said: “The Tesco for Schools and Clubs is a great scheme, which provides valuable extra resources for our schools and clubs. The beauty of this scheme is that it brings the whole community together to support the local school whether it is Bonaly, Clovenstone or Oxgangs. You can see from the faces of the pupils that they are looking forward to using the I.T. and sports equipment. So I thank all the pupils and teachers; the parents and family members; neighbours and friends for collecting so many vouchers and by doing so making this presentation by Tesco possible”.

Last year 63 schools and clubs in Edinburgh Pentlands collected a total of 482,529 vouchers, with 56 of them ordering equipment worth £13,221.

Since 1992 over 4 million pieces of equipment have been donated to 45,000 schools and clubs throughout the U.K. More than £185 million of equipment has been given to schools and clubs transforming learning and play in thousands of classrooms.
