A one-stop-shop for Edinburgh businesses to be opened in the Council’s headquarters in October this year was announced at the launch of the Council’s five year economic strategy for the city today .
Delegates were advised that business facing services will work alongside Business Gateway, the national advice programme, in a new Business Development Centre to be located in Waverley Court.
Responsibility for Business Gateway, which is currently run by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, will transfer to the Council in October. The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce will remain a key partner in delivering business support services as part of the wider Edinburgh Business Gateway partnership.
Councillor Andrew Burns, Council Leader, said: “The transfer of Business Gateway to the Council will allow us to provide a fully integrated one-stop-shop for businesses linking business support activities and our business facing services under one roof.
“The centre will be more convenient for clients as staff from Building Standards and Planning, Trading Standards, Licensing, Environmental Services and Transport will work with Business Gateway in Waverley Court.”
