Eric Milligan is standing as Labour candidate for the Sighthill/Gorgie Ward.

He has been councillor for Sighthill/Gorgie Ward, in West Edinburgh during the current administration, and is always very vocal, and sometimes, entertaining, in the City Chambers. He is the Labour spokesperson on the Planning Committee, and a member of the Education, Children and Families and Economic Development Committees. He is also a member of Lothian and Borders Police Board. He lives with his wife Janis in Kingsknowe in the west of the city.

Milligan was appointed Lord Provost of Edinburgh on two occasions, and is a former convener of both Lothian Regional Council and The City of Edinburgh Council, Eric has been conferred with honorary doctorates from Edinburgh Napier University and Heriot-Watt University and is also Honorary Consul for New Zealand in Scotland. He has served as a councillor since 1974.

Eric is currently President of the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival and a director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company and the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust. He is a former chairman of the Edinburgh Festival Society and of The Edinburgh Military Tattoo Ltd. Away from public life his interests include football, rugby and music, and he is a keen gardener.
