The trial of David Gilroy began at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday. Gilroy is accused of murdering Suzanne Pilley in her office in Thistle Street or somewhere else. Her body has not ever been found. The trial continues today and is expected to last for six weeks. The Herald has a report of the first day’s proceedings.

The plans for Charlotte Square are making some progress and you can see the full planning application which proposes “Improvements to the public realm around Charlotte Square North, South and West streets), including the rationalisation of the carriage way and subsequent creation of a new pedestrian space, Proposals include the installation of new hard surfaces, lighting columns, signage and street furniture.” on the City Council Planning Portal.
