Cameron in plea for the Union – Relaunch of the NEN – Labour Councillor blogs – Scotland blog – Castle webcam

Prime Minister David Cameron will visit Edinburgh today to explain why Scotland would be better off staying in the United Kingdom rather than breaking away as an independent country. The Scotsman tells us more of what he will say.

The North Edinburgh News closed at the end of March last year, when local authority funding of £43,800 per annum was withdrawn. But funds have now been found to relaunch the paper, and the board are holding a launch event tonight from 5pm in The Doo’cot on Ferry Road.  The celebration offers an opportunity to discuss the new paper with Board members, hear plans for the future and to find out how you can help support your NEN.

Councillor Ricky Henderson has set up a blog which he now faithfully adds to every couple of days. One of his posts is about the proposed increase in bus fares, something which could almost pass you by. The proposed increase is to £3.40 for a day ticket.

Not just so populated with regular articles is The Guardian’s Scotland blog which seems to have emerged from nowhere else except the ashes of the Guardian Edinburgh blog. It is set on much the same format as the Northerner blog which, as you might expect, covers the North of England.

If you are suffering from half term weariness then you could always have a wee look at the webcam which looks down the castle esplanade. You won’t see James McAvoy from there as he is filming in the Grassmarket, but you will get a good idea of Edinburgh city centre weather if nothing else.
