Juliet Dunlop is the news anchor on the Edinburgh-based STV News at Six which started in May last year. She has quickly become a well kent face on our screens, at tea-time and alo later in the evening. She has had considerable experience as a broadcast journalist and newsreader.

Working in the news makes for a rather unusual lifestyle in that she starts work in the afternoons, often not getting home till midnight. Juliet has spent most of her career in London so far, although she studied at Edinburgh University before completing a Masters in Journalism at Strathclyde.  The newsreader’s lifestyle does not allow much time to get to know our capital city again, so we have made a plan to show her around some of the real attractions in Edinburgh.

This is our first interview with Juliet, when we took her to see a few of the important exhibits in the recently refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The gallery was built in 1889 and houses the national collection of portraits and the National Photography Collection. The red sandstone exterior and its neo-gothic spires  makes it stand out from the rest of the city centre. The initial building was funded by John Ritchie Findlay who was the owner of The Scotsman at the time.
