The weekly planning application list submitted to The City of Edinburgh Council is shown in full below. From the complete list we have chosen some which appear to us to be of some importance. The plans and other associated documents will be on the Council Planning Portal and you can search either by address or reference.

The Barnton Hotel has been empty for some time and the buildings behind the tower  were demolished. McCarthy & Stone are applying to develop the site into 9 flats for the elderly.

St Columba’s Hospice have applied to use an area of ground as a temporary car park during building works.

A shop at 44 Ferry Road Drive has applied for change of use to allow it to be a hot food takeaway till 9pm.

The Royal Botanic Garden want permission to put up a new Alpine House in the garden.

An application to demolish the church building at 74 Stenhouse Place East is included on the list. The building is to be replaced by shops on the ground floor and a church hall on the first floor.

Another application for demolition of garages at 11-13 York Lane is made along with permission by the hotel who owns them to develop more bedrooms in their place along with a covered walkway.

Monsoon are applying for an illuminated sign on their shop at 45-46 Princes Street.

The shop at 69 George Street is to have its original shopfront restored, and permission is sought for a new fascia sign on the shop at 121 Princes Street owned by New Look. Another shop at 40 Queensferry Street is to have a new shop front and signage, and one at 64 High Street owned by the Gold Brothers is to have new signage.

Sainsbury’s continues to develop its new shop site at 28 Howe Street by providing disabled access ramps and railings, and the Coop shop at 8 McDonald Road wants to open from 6 a.m. till 23.00 7 days per week.

Domino’s Pizza want to put up new signs at 46 Portobello Road.

Permissions is desired for Student accommodation to be built at 142-148 Pleasance, and 32 new houses might be built at 1 Little Road by Dunedin Canmore.
