Jewel & Esk College is holding an open mic night, in search of their latest business recruits tomorrow.
But The Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is turning the college’s interview process on its head, as they invite candidates to pitch for a range of part-time business lecturer positions.
The college is hoping to attract those, who not only have a wealth of knowledge, but are still actively involved in the business and enterprise sector.
The radical suggestion hailed from Head of Centre, Sharon McAllister. Sharon said:
“We want a different take on the traditional subjects within the centre, Business, Accounting, Administration and IT and want to add an entrepreneurial flair throughout the curriculum.
“Ideally we are looking for someone who is well established and can devote six to eight hours per week, working with the students and helping them to engage with the local business community.”
Candidates will present a ten minute pitch to a panel, made up of staff and students, who will select the new lecturers.
Sharon added: “We want people to pitch for the posts, demonstrating their passion for business, telling us why they want to work for the college and what they can bring to our students.”
The event will take place in eh15 restaurant at the Edinburgh Campus on 12th October from 5:30pm to 8pm.
Anyone interested in pitching for the positions should contact Graeme Robb at grobb@jec.ac.uk or call 0131 344 7200.
