There can be few tales which can make you feel the full range of emotions as a true story told from the heart. Steven Faels tells his true story in a solo show that leads from being a devout Mormon in the Church of Latter Day Saints, through to excommunication as a gay man, divorce, drug addiction and his eventual recovery.

The audience appeared to be riveted to their seats listening to him. There are some very wry observations about the Church such as ‘they really want to help homosexuals but then excommunicate them’ which stinks of hypocrisy.

He acts out the story with real expertise, humour and uses the stage to its full potential. Be prepared to challenge some of your beliefs and your emotions in this show – they will be taken on quite some journey!

Confessions of a Mormon Boy is on at the Hill Street Theatre at 9pm daily until 29th August

There is also another chance if you are in London, from 5-24th September 2011
