Lothian Fire and Rescue Service are out on a shout this afternoon. They have tweeted:-“Fire crews at scene of a three-storey building alight in Slateford Green since 12.25pm. Six BA in use, turntable ladder, five appliances.”
Donald Emslie, Executive Chair of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, has been forced to resign following a meeting last night at the Zoo. The meeting was called by Zoo members concerned over the allegations against senior members of staff and the general bad press that the organisation has been getting despite the good news that two pandas are coming to Edinburgh later in the year. The Scotsman has a full report on the meeting. STV have spoken to Mr Emslie who said that there has been considerable damage to the Zoo’s reputation.

Gremlins seem to have got into Cameron Rose’s blog on Blogger, and he seems to have lost a couple of recent articles. We know all about technical glitches and we have offered to host some articles for him meantime and will let you know if that happens.
And the BBC tell us that there is CCTV keeping a beady eye on the sparrowhawks nesting in the Botanic Gardens starting from tomorrow to allow visitors the opportunity of seeing into the nest. We wonder if the pandas at the zoo will get a webcam….?
