The Daily Record reports that a man has been arrested in Australia for the attempted murder of the former Chief Accountant of The Law Society of Scotland.
The profession was shocked when Leslie Cumming was stabbed several times in a lane at the rear of his house in Murrayfield by an unkown assailant. There were some who thought that the attacker might have been an aggrieved solicitor. Mr Cumming was in a position of considerable power at The Law Society, owing to the stringent Accounts Rules which Scottish solicitors must abide by.
