A spookily good family event at Edinburgh’s largest recycling centre will take place this weekend.
Why not celebrate Halloween with a visit to the Waste Aware Cabin? This Saturday, the cabin is having a free family open day.
The cabin is the perfect place to learn about the journey that waste goes on and what people can do to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Children and parents alike will be able to find out what beasties live in a compost heap, have a guided tour of Edinburgh’s biggest recycling centre and Alchemy Arts will also be hosing a Halloween themed masks workshop.
There will also be ghostly competitions and activities during this fun-packed day.
Councillor Robert Aldridge, Environmental Leader, said: “Halloween is a fun time of year for all the family and what better way to learn about the city’s waste than at this fascinating and informative waste aware open day. As well as this being a spooky themed event for Halloween, there is also the serious message that everyone can do their bit to reduce, reuse and recycle.”
In Edinburgh, the public are recycling more and more of our waste each year through the kerbside collections, on-street sites and at our Community Recycling Centres.
And the range of materials that can be recycled is increasing all the time for example, furniture and other good quality items to the Reuse Cabin at all the Community Recycling Centres in Edinburgh.
Drop in for prizes, competitions and freebies on Saturday 30 October from 11am-3pm at Seafield Community Recycling Centre, Fillyside Road, Edinburgh EH7 6RD.
