Remember that this weekend in Edinburgh there are many buildings open to you which normally you cannot access. Plan your tours now by visiting the websites of The Cockburn Association or Doors Open Days.
The Royal Bank of Scotland HQ at Gogarburn has withdrawn from the scheme owing to the security risk, particularly after the actions of the protesters at the Climate Change Camp last month.
One other building has also been removed from the list – The Traverse Theatre. We asked them why and they explained that the shows which are being staged this weekend need some more technical and rehearsal time. Since the theatres themselves would be out of bounds, they had decided to withdraw from the scheme so that they would not disappoint any visitors. They plan to open up the theatre and show it off properly sometime in the spring.
Our earlier article will also give you more information behind the scheme.
