The Champions Challenge was due to be played this afternoon (Wednesday) but inclement weather has meant its cancellation. Twenty five former Open Champions were due to tee off.

We hope that the actual golf competition itself which is due to start on Thursday morning will be able to go ahead. Tiger Woods is here along with Phil Mickelson and the Japanese Ishikawa. Justin Rose is hoping that he will win this time and Tom Watson who so very nearly lifted the Claret Jug last year but was pipped by Stewart Cink on the extra holes required when they both tied on 278. Watson was so gracious in defeat it would be lovely to see him actually win the competition this year.

Former winner Paul Lawrie is one of the first trio to tee off at 6.30am tomorrow morning…..

You can follow the action on the official website from your desk. But The Reporter can recommend a visit to the Bolly tent – if only to see who you can see! St Andrews is a great course for spectators since some of the greens and fairways back on to each other so there are some vantage points where you will be able to watch a wide range of play.

You can also follow live coverage on the BBC – Just remember to do some work in between…..
