Juniper Green tennis courts have been shortlisted for Park Venue of the Year by Tennis Scotland.
The nomination recognises venues which go above and beyond to deliver high-quality, welcoming and accessible tennis within their communities.
They go up against Kings Park, Stirling and Bellfield Park, Inverness at a ceremony in Stirling on 6 February.
The national recognition comes on the back of the stunning court renovation, made possible through a major grant from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Park Tennis Project and the remarkable fundraising efforts of members, supporters and the wider local community. An incredible £50,000 was raised locally and matched by the LTA, resulting in state-of-the-art resurfaced courts, new fencing and nets, and smart access technology. The transformation has turned the venue’s previously seasonal blaes based courts into a modern facility open all year round that the whole community can be proud to use and enjoy.
Paul Murphy, committee chair, said: “This national shortlisting is a testament to the ambition, persistence and dedication of Juniper Green tennis club’s volunteers and members, and to the strong community spirit that drove the project from start to finish. Everyone at JGTC is immensely proud to be recognised on a national stage alongside other outstanding park tennis venues across Scotland, and extends heartfelt thanks to all who have supported the club and continue to help make it such a special place in our local community.
“In terms of court usage post completion of the redevelopment project, membership numbers increased by one third compared to the previous year, we introduced a pay&play option for non-members and we expanded the number and type of coaching classes including new features such as cardio tennis sessions. Together, all these improvements contributed to a 123% increase in court bookings during the busiest period of the tennis calendar i.e. May to August compared to the same period in 2024.”

- Volunteer of the Year – Karen Price (North Berwick TC).
- Coach of the Year – Jack George-Burnell (Oriam indoor tennis centre).
- Official of the Year – Alan Russell (Dunfermline TC).
- Performance coach of the Year – Karen Lamb (East of Scotland Tennis).
- School of the Year – Portobello High.
- University of the Year – Heriot Watt.
- Young Person of the Year – Emma Kernaghan and Sophie Kernaghan (both Grange Dyvours TC).
Other awards will be announced on the night.
