Hibs striker Owen Elding has been called up to Republic of Ireland’s senior squad for the first time for Nations League matches against Kosovo, Israel and Austria.
Elding was born in England but is eligible for the Republic through residency, having lived in the country from the age of six.
The 20-year-old has impressed since signing for Hibs from Sligo Rovers in January, scoring six goals in 22 appearances including three in nine outings this season.
He picked up an injury earlier this season but returned to first team action from the bench in Tuesday’s defeat to Kilmarnock at Easter Road.
Now he could be in line for his first cap as the Republic visit Kosovo on 24 September and face Israel three days later in Group B4 before hosting Austria on 1 October then Israel on 4 October.
Hs teammate Jamie McGrath, has also been included in the squad and the 29-year-old midfielder will be hopeful of earning a 16th cap.
