The Edinburgh Combat Project, a martial arts-focused charity and gym based in Longstone and founded by Pawel Zakrzewski alongside his brother, Daniel, has been selected to take part in a UN mini-documentary series spotlighting effective grassroots initiatives supporting youth wellbeing and social justice.
The series will be shown during a UN side event on 9 February, and features work highlighted by the Edinburgh Reporter in April last year in terms of assisting adults and youngsters alike to come to terms with physical and mental health difficulties.
The emphasis will be on the charity’s community outreach programmes … using combat sports as a tool for engagement.
Pawel, pictured with Daniel, says: “The recognition reflects the growing importance of community-led, preventative approaches to social development, and how local charities play a vital role in long-term wellbeing.”
