Glenn Whelan said his men showed an improved performance against William Hill Championship pace-setters Stenhousemuir, but, once again, a mistake which lead to the only goal cost Livingston dear in the narrow home defeat.
The Lions head coach and his men have to re-group and go again and he added: “There was some very good stuff out there, it was pleasing, some of the lads played for the badge, fight for us and tried to get back in the game.
“That is all I can ask for when we are 1-0 down.”
Whelan told Livingston TV that on another day Livingston “could have had a couple of penalties” and they made Stenny defend their box, something he wants to see.
The 42-year-old Irishman added: “We kept going, we did not go under. I want the lads to fight and keep going and that is what happened second-half.”
It was unfortunate that a ball was cleared off the Stenhousemuir line but, on another day, that goes in off the player, but there are, he declared, still loads of areas to work on. He said: “It is a new group, I’m a new head coach and I am still getting to know them.”
