Wouter Vrancken admitted that the international break was useful for him and his coaching staff, switching off mentally and emotionally from football, focusing on family and friends for a few days.

Hearts, however, get back into league action on Saturday when St Mirren visit Tynecastle in the William Hill Premiership (15.00).

The Belgian-born head coach (pictured) said the break was also good for renewing energy for the fixture list which lies ahead as it had been a tough schedule since the end of July, with a lot of games.

He is looking forward to the challenge and he said: “There are a lot of crucial games to play.”

Statistics show that Hearts have won four and lost two of their last ten meetings with The Buddies, scoring 18 goals and conceding 11, and The Jambos have won their last ten home league games.

St Mirren have produced battling performances against Celtic and Rangers but went into the break having lost 3-0 at home to Dundee United.

Hearts were held 1-1 at bottom side Kilmarnock last time out but still sit in third spot in the William Hill Premiership with 13 points.

St Mirren, in contrast, are fifth with ten points despite having lost their last three Premiership games.

Meanwhile, tickets for the UEFA Conference League match at home to FC Nordsjaelland will go on sale to season ticket holders on Friday, October 9 (10am).

No season tickets will be reserved for this match due to a stadium configuration required for UEFA matches.

General sale will start from 5pm on Wednesday and from 9am on Thursday in person.
