Nicky Cadden is determined to help Hibs reach the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Cadden returned after a frustrating two-month lay-off during last Saturday’s 2-1 William Hill Premiership defeat to St Johnstone.

And the winger looked sharp throughout his cameo off the substitutes’ bench.

The prize on offer for Hibs against Ross County is a spot at Hampden for the first time since November 2023, and Cadden is ready to play again at Global Energy Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference at HTC earlier today Cadden said:

“It’s been annoying, but I’m back now and I’m hoping to help out the team as much as I can, and if I’m picked tomorrow, then I’ll be ready to start.

“It’s very frustrating when you feel like you can help out the team and you’re obviously not involved because injuries happen in football.

“I’ve been in the game a long time now where I know injuries are going to happen and you’re paid to play football and that’s what you want to do.

“You want to be out there with the boys, and you want to be helping out the team, and that’s the worst bit about it.

“There is nothing worse than when you’re sitting in the stand and there is a great atmosphere at Easter Road and you can’t impact it the way you want to impact it, but hopefully that’s behind me now and I can kick on.”

“I don’t think we’ll have a better opportunity to get to Hampden, so we need to put a good performance in and get to a semi-final of the competition, and from there you never know what could happen.

“Two seasons ago they (Ross County) were in the Premiership, so you’d say they’re in a hold position for now. Obviously things happen, they get relegated, but it’s going to be a tough tie going up there.

“We know it’s not been good enough recently, and don’t worry, we’re talking in the changing room, and we know we need to improve our performances because we need to do better and we want to be doing well for Hibernian Football Club.

“We’ve had chats in there and we’re going to try to make it right.

“We’ve got a good opportunity to get to Hampden this weekend, so hopefully we can do that.”
