The Edinburgh singer created this track while sitting cross-legged in the back of her cosy campervan – actually in a supermarket car park – just moments after a sell out concert.

Silverstone had just wowed the fans at the sold out punk rock laden Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings VIII.

“It was just one of those moments,” says Laura, “I was on such a high being able to perform with one of my heroes in Frank Turner and his incredible community, even going crowdsurfing for the first time, that as soon as I sat down, I had to start making new music.

“It’s a ballad, full of happy thoughts and love, which is ironic when you consider it was written just after I stepped out of a sweaty punk rock festival. It came together really quickly, and felt very special.

“It just felt like I never wanted that moment, or the summer to end. It was such a special time with so many beautiful memories to treasure, and it was my way to try and keep them alive for even a little longer. For me it’s one of my favourites, I’m really proud of it.”

September is described as a slow-building, indie folk song with lap-tap guitar, strings, some soft percussion, a Fender Rhodes and layered harmonies blended with Laura’s inimitable and effortless voice.

This is to be released on 25 September which is Laura’s birthday on Last Night From Glasgow. and is the latest track from her new album which includes Dream On featured on BBC Introducing. Other tracks on the album include her tribute to the late Glen Hansard – her version of his “Say It To Me Now”, just one of the songs from the soundtrack of the film Once.

Winner of the 2026 ‘Danny’ award at Celtic Connections, and a 2023 finalist on Spain’s Got Talent, she plays The Mash House in Edinburgh on 9 Oct, and The Hillhead Sessions at Glasgow Kelvinside Hillhead Church, on 16 October.
