The producers of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay have announced on Friday that The Fratellis will headline the Night Afore Party on 30 December.

The trio will make their Hogmanay debut promising an electric night of live Scottish music performing some of their best and biggest hits.

This is the 20th anniversary of their first album “Costello Music” in 2006 with hits such as Chelsea Dagger, Henrietta and Whistle for the Choir. They will appear on stage in West Princes Street Gardens along with “special guests” as part of the four day winter festival.

The Fratellis said: “It’s such an honour & privilege to be asked to perform at this year’s Hogmanay celebrations in a city that we hold so close to our hearts!”

Cllr Margaret Graham, Culture and Communities Convener, said: “What a brilliant way to kick off Edinburgh’s iconic Hogmanay celebrations, with one of Scotland’s best-known artists taking to the stage.

“Edinburgh has a long tradition of putting on world-class Hogmanay celebrations, and this year’s Night Afore concert looks set to be another special occasion. I’m sure it’ll be a memorable night for audiences in Edinburgh!”

Headlining Hogmanay Underworld will create a special Midnight Moment with their live soundtrack and fireworks launched from Edinburgh Castle, and a light show with projections for around 50,000 partygoers.

On 29 December the proceedings begin with the Torchlight Procession and the final day on 1 January will feature First Footin’ – a day of free and unticketed music in various venues in the city centre.

Tickets for the Night Afore Party with The Fratellis are on sale from www.edinburghshogmanay.com from 10am, Friday 11 September, priced from £42 including booking fees.
