David Gray admitted that the Hibs staff and players let everyone down after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock last night.
Hibs were second-best on the night, with George Stanger’s first-half strike the difference between the sides on a disappointing night all round.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Gray shared his frustrations on both the result and performance.
He said: “It’s a difficult night because of the result and performance, especially where we find ourselves off the back of our home form and everything we spoke about building on last weekend’s result and the consistency that is required.
“We’ve let everybody down again today because of the result and performance.
“It’s really tough to take, and certainly people probably don’t want to sit here and listen to me analyse the game and come up with excuses for the game.
“But, it’s pretty clear for me – they commanded and defended the box a lot better than we did.
“I didn’t think we were brave enough on the ball. I thought there was a real lack of quality within that, and defensively we were nowhere near where we needed to be.
“As a result of that, Kilmarnock didn’t have to work very hard to create an opportunity.
“We had a lot of the ball into good areas, but we huffed and puffed without really having that quality and end product to go and get back into the game.”
