Felix Passlack has warned Hibs fans that the tie is far from over, and a big performance will be required to finish the job in next week’s second-leg at Easter Road.

Hibs were comfortable throughout last night’s game against KAA Gent who are UEFA Conference League regulars.

And the 0-0 draw has given David Gray’s men a great chance of qualifying for European group/league stage football for the first time ever.

The result sees Hibs record a third consecutive clean sheet, and Passlack, who has been a big part of that, paid tribute to his team’s defensive strength in recent weeks.

“First of all, it’s a good result for us,” Passlack told Hibs TV.

“It’s half-time, 0-0, and now the second-leg is at home at Easter Road.

“Especially in the second half, I would say we had the game under control, had a lot of possession and a few chances, but we are happy.

“Owen (Elding) missed a penalty, but it’s no problem for us, and we just keep going.

“I had the feeling, especially after the penalty, we took more control of the game and had more possession

“Of course, if we took our chances, then we could have scored tonight, but we will do it next week.

“The next bit is to create chances in the final third, and hopefully we will see it next Thursday.

“I remember just one shot from KAA Gent from the halfway line, so we are happy with our defensive performance.

“We are in good shape, and everyone is working really hard against the ball, and as a result of that we’ve achieved a third clean sheet in a row, and we just have to finish the job next Thursday.”

Passlack also thanked fans for the backing they gave him and the team at Planet Group Arena and says their support will be vital in next week’s return leg.

He said: “A big shout-out to the supporters, especially after the game, and we are all looking forward to the game next week at Easter Road.”
