Police are appealing for information following a serious crash in Penicuik.
The crash happened around 2.10pm on Thursday, 27 August, 2026, and involved the driver of a blue Volkswagen Tiguan car and a cyclist on the A701 Edinburgh Road between Mauricewood Junction and Eastfield Farm Road.
Emergency services attended, and the cyclist, a 76-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Constable Jock Kent said: “Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or saw the car or cyclist prior, to get in contact with officers.
“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
