The Scottish chapter of the UK Police Unity Tour got under way yesterday with Assistant Chief Constable Alan Speirs meeting participants at the start line to wish them luck.
Over the course of the tour, the team will cover approximately 242 miles, united by a shared purpose: to remember police officers who have died in the line of duty, and to support the families they leave behind.
Their journey will culminate at the National Memorial Arboretum where riders will join colleagues, families and supporters from across the UK, at the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) Service of Remembrance.
Constable Ewan Fraser said: “We are looking forward to the days ahead and we know the journey will undoubtedly bring physical challenges, but it will also be one of reflection, camaraderie and remembrance as we ride together to honour our colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice and in solidarity with the families who continue to carry their loss.”
