Hibs highly rated teenage defender Joseph McGrath has joined William Hill League One side Alloa Athletic on loan until January 2027.
The 19-year-old joined Hibs Academy at the age of eight and went on to sign his first professional contract in September 2023.
McGrath, who has represented Scotland at U17 and U19 levels, spent pre-season with Head Coach David Gray’s first-team squad and has been a consistent and key player throughout youth football, having captained the U18s to title success in 2025 and in the UEFA Youth League last season.
The talented youngster has been in Hibs senior side’s matchday squad on two occasions, including against KF Malisheva in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers on Thursday night.
Now, McGrath – who won the Academy Player of the Year award for 25/26, after a successful first loan spell at William Hill League Two side Stranraer – will link up with Andy Graham’s side at Recreation Park for the first half of the new campaign.
Hibs head coach David Gray said: “Joe is a very talented young player with a fantastic attitude and is a player who has impressed us throughout pre-season.
“He’s still only 19 years old, and after a successful first loan spell with Stranraer last season in League Two, I am sure he will kick-on again in League One with Alloa Athletic.
“We will closely monitor his progress whilst he continues his development out on loan, and we wish him the best of luck with the move.”
