East of Scotland tennis men are off to a flying start in their latest Summer County Cup group one campaign, beating newly promoted Cambridgeshire 6-3 at Eastbourne.
Having secured the spoils by the end of the second of three rounds of doubles matches East were able to give a debut to 16-year-old Chenming Dong who partnered Rhys Watters to a three set win.
They replaced Alan Macdonald and Sam Macneill who had contributed a valuable win in the opening round.
Heroes for East were top couple Scott Duncan and James Mackinlay who were unbeaten throughout. There was also a win for captain Euan McIntosh and Lance Nisbet.
Alas the East women, playing in Group 3 at Raynes Park after back-to-back promotions went down 1-8 to Hampshire/Isle of Wight.
The East winners were Hanna Augustynska and Mhairi Beattie.
