Livingston go into Tuesday’s home Premier Sports Cup clash against Forfar (kick-off 19.45) on an unbeaten run in normal time so far this term.
A 2-0 win over Dundee in a friendly was followed by a 3-0 success at Alloa Athletic, also in a challenge game.
Then, the Lions recorded a 2-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian in the Scott Pittman Testimonial before they travelled to Brechin City in their opening Premier Sports Cup fixture and beat the Lowland League side 2-0.
On Saturday, it was 1-1 at the end of regulation time but the Glasgow side won the Group E game in the Premier Sports Cup 3-2 on penalties.
The Lions have four points from their two cup games and sit in third spot above Forfar who have yet to get off the mark. Brechin are also pointless.
Thistle top the group with two wins and a penalty win for eight points with Stenhousemuir in second spot two points adrift.
So, Tuesday is an important game for manager Glenn Whelan who told the club’s TV that he takes positives from the joust with Thistle.
He added: “Penalties at this stage is crazy, but, for me, it was all about the performance and in both halves it was excellent.
“It would have been nice to come away with the three points we deserved, but I am really pleased with what the lads have produced.”
He is taking every game as it comes and he admitted he is still trying to get to know the players, their strengths and weaknesses and Whelan added: “We will prep properly for Forfar, we will look at their strengths and weaknesses.”
