Two people have been taken to hospital in Edinburgh after a car crash on Monday evening.

Police confirmed that the Barnton Avenue collision involved a pedestrian and the driver of an Audi car, whose vehicle was extensively damaged.

Officers were first alerted to the incident in the Northwest at around 4.25pm on Monday evening, and were forced to close the road temporarily while the scene was investigated.

Police also confirmed that enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.25pm on Monday, 13 July, 2026, officers received a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Barnton Avenue, Edinburgh.

“Two people were taken to hospital.

“The road was closed and later reopened.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
