The first players will tee-off in the Genesis Scottish Open on Thursday at 7am and the last trio will start their bid to win the title at 2.27pm, and fans won’t have long to wait for a star-studded trio.
American Mac Meissner, countryman Ryggs Johnston and French player Frederic LaCroix will have an early alarm call as they are the first to test their skill on the East Lothian course.
Three-time Major winner, Padraig Harrington, is off at 7.33 with Bernd Wiesberger, third in last weekend’s BMW International at Munich, and American-born Alex Smalley.
Brooks Koepla, a former world No 1 and a five-time Major winner, is the next pairing and they are off at 7.44am and Xander Schauffele, ranked 14th on the PGA Tour, tees it up at 8.06am with Norwegian player, Kristoffer Reitan and Aussie-born Adam Scott, a former world No 1.
Irishman Shane Lowry, another big draw, is off next at 8.17am with American golfer, J J Spaun, currently No 12 in the PGA Tour ratings, and Staffordshire-born, Aaron Rai, who is seeking his second Scottish Open title, at 8.17am.
They are followed by Rory McIlroy, runner-up 12 months ago and a another former winner of the title. He is No 2 in the world.
This trio will likely have a big following as Scotland’s top hope, Oban’s Robert MacIntyre and the tournament holder, American golfer, Chris Gotterup, are also involved.
Scottie Scheffler, the world No 1, will have to wait until 13.43 and he is out with world No 4, Englishman, Matt Fitzpatrick, fourth in the world, and his countryman, Tommy Fleetwood, five places below him in the standings.
Jon Rahm from Spain and currently No 11 in the standings, tees it up at 14.05 with Englishman Alex Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Hojgaard from Denmark.
