Robert MacIntyre carded a 67 to be three-under after the first round of the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club and the Oban-born player said he has had a week at home, played one game of golf, and life is good.
He said: “I enjoyed the week off and, when I can do that, I just feel like I can come out here, practice, prepare, and it makes it easier on the golf course.”
Scotland’s top hope in the $9m tournament admitted he did not hole the puts he should have during his round, he lives in hope “of the law of averages”.
The ball, he added, will go in the hole at some point.
He added: “It probably makes it easier knowing I putted so well this year I feel at five holes this week it should have gone in but….”
MacIntyre also addressed the word personalities, and he firmly believes they make the game of golf. The game, stressed, needs “big personalities”.
