Robert MacIntyre, Scotland’s big hope in the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in East Lothian, is in the final group to tee-off in the last round of the $9m DP World Tour event.

The Oban-born player, currently 20th in the world rankings, shot to the top of the leaderboard in completing his third round over the par-70 course near North Berwick.

MacIntyre, a former winner of the star-studded tournament, carded five-under in his third round completed this morning, and moved onto 12-under for the tournament.

He joined Sheffield-born Matt Fitzpatrick, No 4 in the world, who shot a 66, and Aussie professional, Min Woo Lee (Royal Fremantle) who also went round the 7,000-plus-yards, links in 66, and is on 12-under.

They tee-off at 14.50 and one shot behind them are Tom Kim (Korea), American Chris Gotterup, the defending champion, and Michael Thorbjornsen (America) who are all on 11-under.

The 14.28 tee-off sees three players on ten-under, Wyndham Clark, No 8 in the world and the winner of two Major titles, the 2023 and 2026 US Opens, plus newish kid on the block, Johnny Keefer, a 25-year-old former college golf star from America, and another US player, Kevin Roy.

Irish star, Rory McIlroy, who was one of the overnight leaders on Friday, plays at 12.55 after shooting rounds of 65, 66, 73, for minus six so far, and he tees-up with J J Spaun (America) who shot a 67 in round three despite having his round interrupted by a fog suspension. He is five-under alongside the third member of the group, Swedish player, Jesper Svensson.

Kirkcaldy-born, Calum Hill (Gleneagles Hotel) is off at 12.28. He is five-under after carding 67,69, 69 in his previous three rounds. His playing partners are Justin Thomas (USA) and Ryan Fox of New Zealand.

Glaswegian Scott Jamieson was first off in the final round at 10.25 alongside American golfer, Eric Cole. Jamieson has recorded rounds of 69, 69 and 76.  

The forecast for North Berwick is partly sunny, high of 17 between 14.00 and 17.00, and with a 14kmh wind. There is a five per cent chance of rain.
